Steeple is a domestic cat of Martani mountains, a local sub-kind from the woods north of Todi, object of peculiar legends recounted by the farmers: they are known as wild cats eating mostly baby hares.
Actually Steeple has been found close to our Umbria residence in totally wild conditions, two months old. In order to establish a contact it took many months of watching, offers, big patience. Once become familiar she considered our house as her natural territory, and lived there almost three years wit us or without us, always waiting for our arrivals, no matter what weather or situation, often for long periods, baring all kind of privation. Nobody's ever seen her any other place.
She gave life to - and brought up - many puppies, in solitude and without assistence. When presenting them to us, she crearly showed to be able to count up to four.
When Giorgia - the persian cat living in or Rome residence - died, Steeple moved to town and was advanced first class urban cat, got outrageously fat but kept her character, reserved and wildish... Nevertheless she always behaved extremely tolerant and understanding with our thousand guest, teir animals and theyr neuroses...
She's a remarkable cat
